Intellectual property (IP) valuation - how strategies of an “innovation driven society†are implemented in the management of European firms (Seminar)
The "strategic innovation programme†outlined by prime minister Koizumi emphasizes the importance of IP-asset development in the Japanese society in general and IP creation in relation to education and industry in particular. A critical factor to the improvement of new IP-asset creation and the use thereof is the establishment of appropriate information flows around people with special Know-How within a company.
IP-assets increase firm value: today’s top managers should be aware that they are responsible for locating and evaluating the potential of IP-assets, especially for their economic use, not only in trade and in licensing but also in financing and bookkeeping for annual financial statements, particularly with respect to the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard).
This lecture was primarily intended for businesspeople / IP attorneys who are involved in managing the flow of information related to IP creation and IP valuation in companies and academia. The speaker also addressed valuation methods and issues of IP-assets based on practice by firms in the EU.
