The EU-Japan Bridge, the essential guide for EU Business
Intended for European companies wishing to work with Japan, the EU-Japan Bridge is a directory of economic, industrial, technological, scientific and cultural links between each of the 25 EU Member States and Japan. It is aimed at EU companies or individuals interested in starting or developping existing activities in Japan. Sorted by country, most of the governmental and non-governmental organisations, located in EU and Japan and active in the EU-Japan cooperation, are listed with information on their contact details and the type of business support they offer to European companies wishing to work with Japan.

The Johogen is a directory of sources of Japanese information on trade and technology. Johogen is an excellent tool to get an overview of the vast sources of information on Japan that is available.

FDI in Japan guide on CD-ROM
The Japan's Prefectures' Support to FDI guide is intended to give you access to comparable and verifiable data about various investment incentives offered by Japanese prefectures to prospective foreign companies. As such, we expect this guide to be used as a starting point for drafting a competitive analysis, a risk assessment for future investments or a macroeconomic description of Japan. The guide also provides a list of relevant contact points in Japanese prefectures, which the potential investors can reach in order to follow-up when necessary.

This report was compiled with the purpose of providing an overview of incentives available for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the European Union. It acts as a source of information for Japanese investors who foster an interest for the European Union or one of its member states, as the site of their investment.

| Mr Julien Guerrier, Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Commission to Japan and the General Manager of the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, gave a presentation on 1 October in Takamatsu city and called for a shift of the EU-Japan relationship from competition to cooperation. The event was part of the annual conference organised by the Kagawa EU Association and the Kagawa Keizai Doyukai in order to deepen understanding of the EU among business community in Kagawa (40 participants). Mr Guerrier emphasised that the EU and Japan are increasingly sharing common challenges – globalisation, ageing society, competition from emerging economies, etc. Correspondingly the objective and core activities of the EU-Japan Centre has shifted from those targeted at improving the trade balance between Europe and Japan to those aiming at facilitating more dialogues and policy analysis in order to build cooperative relationship between the two regions. Part of such activities are the EU-Japan Business Round Table and human resources trainings fro businesspeople and students of both regions. Mr Guerrier’s speech concluded that it is important to deepen our cooperation based on our strength so that both Europe and Japan can maintain competitiveness in the global economy.
