SERVICES TO BUSINESS

In an attempt to match the current needs of European companies, the EU-Japan Centre provides a wide range of business support services enabling the companies to access practical information on Japan and to benefit from training and operational support to help them enter the Japanese market or expand their activities in Japan.

POLICY ANALYSIS

At the interface between industry's needs and the priorities of the Japanese and European Authorities, the EU-Japan Centre organises debates, informs about the latest industrial and economic policies, presents feedback to policy makers and compare experiences and latest information with a view to sharing best practices and identifying areas of future dialogue and cooperation.

R&D – INNOVATION

The promotion of industrial innovation and R&D cooperation between the EU and Japan has become an important part of the EU-Japan Centre’s support activities in order to foster the internationalisation of innovative EU SMEs to Japan.

POLICY ANALYSIS

Acting as the interface between industry's needs and the priorities of the Japanese and EU Authorities, the Centre organises seminars, workshops, as well as the EU-Japan Business Round Table (a dialogue between business leaders and the Authorities). It also publishes analytical reports and a monthly policy newsletter.

INFORMATION SERVICES

The Centre provides information through its information desk, market reports, websites, case studies, webinars and regular newsletters.

MANAGERIAL TRAINING PROGRAMMES

The Centre regularly organises training programmes and sectorial missions (in Japan) for EU companies in need of support in their activities with Japan and best practice visits (in Europe) aimed at helping companies become more competitive.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

The Centre offers practical support to EU companies looking to start/expand exports to Japan, invest in Japan or establish R&D cooperation with Japan. This support takes the form of custom-made market surveys, cross-cultural guidance, the provision of free office facilities in Japan and tailored advice.

‘VULCANUS IN JAPAN’ is a 1-year programme (from September to August) for EU engineering students consisting of a 4-month intensive Japanese language course followed by an 8-month internship in a Japanese industrial company.

The objective of ‘VULCANUS IN THE EU’ is to provide EU companies with skilled Japanese engineering students as interns to help them in the development of their business with Japan. The JTPP Helpdesk aims to support European SMEs in their commercial endeavours in Japan and provides a range of services in the areas of public procurement and tax issues and strives to lessen the hurdles that might impede business activities.

Cluster/SME Missions

These 5-days missions are composed of market-specific business seminars, group company visits, one-on-one meetings at a targeted trade fair with showcase and networking events to maximise opportunities for the EU participants.
