Winning bids for Tokyo 2020 Olympic venues construction announced

Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) announced the winning bidders for three Tokyo2020 Olympic Games venues on January 14th. All tenders were won by Japanese joint ventures. No foreign companies took part in the procedures.

Aquatics Centre

Construction of the venue for the Olympic Swimming events was awarded to a joint venture comprising of Obayashi Corporation, Toko Electrical Construction Co. Ltd. , Ergotech Co. ltd and Tonets Corporation  beating two other groups with a bid of ¥46.98 billion (approx. €367. mln). TMG had estimated the costs at ¥53.84 billion.

 Ariake Arena

Ariake Arena, the venue for the volleyball competition during the Games was awarded to a JV consisting of Takenaka Corporation, Toko Electrical Construction Co. Ltd., Asahi Kogyosha Co. Ltd. And Takasago Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd. The Joint Venture won the tender with a bid of 36,02 billion (approx.. €281.51)  leaving two other groupings behind it.

Sea Forest Waterway

The construction of the Sea Forest Waterway for the rowing and kayaking events had only one bidder. The joint venture led by Taisei Corporation won with a bid of ¥24.90 billion  (Approx. €194.55). Other parties in the joint venture are again  Toko Electrical Construction Co. Ltd, Swing Corporation and Hitachi Zosen Corporation
