Webinar: EU-Japan collaborative projects on Internet of Things and smart cities: ClouT, FESTIVAL and BigClouT

February 01 2017

31-01-17 | 10:00 - 11:00 AM CET

How to benefit from EU-Japan joint cooperation programmes in the ICT sector?

Since 2012, the European Commission and the NICT and the MIC of Japan have been jointly launching call for project proposals addressing today’s and tomorrow’s challenges on ICT. This webinar will be presenting 3 of the projects that have been accepted to get funding from the European and Japanese authorities. The objective is to present the project results, pilot deployments and overall the software that can be reusable by the IoT community (SMEs, large industry, researchers, etc.)

ClouT project (2013 – 2016) has provided a smart city platform which can gather data from heterogeneous data sources in a city (IoT devices, social networks, mobile applications, web data, etc.) and provide access to the data (and to actuators) in a unified way. The project has organized deployments in 4 pilot cities of the project: Santander, Genova, Fujisawa and Mitaka.

FESTIVAL project (2014 – 2017) has built a federated testbed platform which provides access to various types of resources such as IoT data, open data, IT resources and living lab resources. The project provides real life data from testbeds from Europe and Japan (city market, train stations, smart city and smart home environments, etc.).

Finally, BigClouT project is a newly started project (2016 – 2019) that takes its foundations from the ClouT project and adds big data functionalities to the ClouT architecture.

The webinar is targeted to any EU and Japan companies seeking to reuse the results of those projects which are mostly provided as open software.
