On 19 September 2024, the European Commission announced plans for a study on the production and use of advanced materials to constitute, "an in-depth analysis of production and use of advanced materials in the EU, in comparison with the US, UK, China, South Korea and Japan. In particular, it will identify, categorize, and measure the development and adoption of these materials across different sectors within Europe, providing a comprehensive overview of the region's position in the global advanced materials landscape".
The final tender notice is likely to be published on/around 15 October as a Supplement to the Official Journal. The contract is expected to run 12 months, and its estimated total value is EUR €200,000. The study will implement Action 13 of the Communication on Advanced Materials for Industrial Leadership (COM(2024) 98 final).
