JTPP News Pick-up: Tenders announced for temporary facilities Tokyo2020 Olympics

On April 16, the Organising Committee of Tokyo 2020 Olympics games (TOCOG) published the first tenders for the construction of temporary facilities for a number of the venues. The tenders involve construction of facilities such as prefab facilities and tents at 17 facilities, divided into 7 tenders. Tendered separately are a temporary delivery services and construction work at the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) and Media Press Centre (MPC) both located at Tokyo Big Sight.  In particular for supply of seating the involvement of overseas suppliers is expected. All the tenders come with an estimation of the value of the contract and English language specifications are provide as well.

Interested parties have until May 24 to apply for the contracts and Japanese companies will have to submit their applications via the Business Chance Navi 2020 portal.  At the BCN portal is only in Japanese, International companies can apply via a registration application form.  The contracting method used is conditional open tender. Details on the tenders are available at TOCOGs procurement page. According to Nikkei Online (J), the tenders for the remaining venues will be published in the coming months up to August 2018.
