On January 9, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) announced the winning bidder for the tender concerning "Support services for Sport Presentation Initial Plan". After a so-called "comprehensive evaluation' by the Committee, the contract was awarded to advertising giant Dentsu. Despite upheaval in 2017 concerning the company's labor conditions, Dentsu is continuing its sweep of lucrative contracts for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, having already won a number of the larger contracts on offer.
As usual, the organising committee did not make public how many other companies took part in the competition.
