Webinar: Ultrasonic Imaging Technology for Road Pavement Inspection
March 04 2021
Date and Time:10:00 a.m. (CET), on Thursday, March 4, 2021
Under the new initiative between the EU-Japan Technology Transfer Helpdesk and SHIGA,
this is the first webinar to introduce cutting-edge technologies derived from Japanese
academia to potential licensees in Europe.
Description:
“Ultrasonic Imaging Technology for Road Pavement Using Low-Frequency
Array Probes” was developed by Professor, Kazuyuki, NAKAHATA, Ph.D., Structural
Engineering Laboratory of Ehime University. With the aim of reducing time and cost of non-
destructive inspection for roads and improving preciseness of inspection, this invention
allows users to detect a tiny flaw/defects inside the pavements without having to drill the
structures. Conventionally, in the civil engineering industry, inspection of a structure is
sometimes challenging because the components consist of inhomogeneous materials and
have huge dimensions. Here, by applying the FASP technique (full-waveform sampling
and processing), this invention has helped evaluate cracks non-destructively inside of
structures at an early stage. It is greatly expected that this invention will be put into
practical application in a broad range of technical fields, ranging from road inspection,
social infrastructure, and industrial plants to geophysical exploration.
Note: This webinar is aimed at introducing the “Ultrasonic Imaging Technology for Road Pavement Inspection” to companies and institutes primarily in the EU. Registration from persons who work for IP firms or law firms in Japan will not be approved as this may be deemed a conflict of interest with our business.
Joint venture established in 1987 by the European Commission (DG GROW) and the Japanese Government (METI) for promoting all forms of industrial, trade and investment cooperation between the EU and Japan.
