In spite of COVID-19, the global Space industry experienced significant advances in 2020, likely to further develop into 2021. In 2020 Japan’s National Space Policy Secretariat revised its basic plan on space policy aiming to reinforce Space exploitation and increasing contribution to Japan’s economy (https://www8.cao.go.jp/space/english/basicplan/2020/abstract_0825.pdf). This webinar will outline several areas of update in the 2020 revision act and introduce possible opportunities for EU-Japan industrial cooperation. About the speaker: Shigeki Kuzuoka has over 40 years of experience in space business around on earth observation, including business development, sales, market research, start-up coaching and technology consulting, and has worked with companies like Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and NEC. Dr Kuzuoka is currently the president of a consulting company - Satellite Business Network and serving as the head of EuroConsult Japan Office and a board member of a start-up company- Space Shift also.

About the speaker: Aron Lentsch is founder and general manager of Orbspace a startup specializing in the design of space transportation and rocket propulsion systems with a base in Tsukuba, Japan. Prior to starting Orbspace, Mr. Lentsch has been propulsion engineer at the Ariane Directorate at CNES (French Space Agency), held research positions at the former National Aerospace Laboratory of Japan (NAL, today JAXA) and ESA and has recently completed a MINERVA research assignment on Japan’s Space Security and Defence sector.
