Solana Nin is a small company based on family, traditional production.
The offer consists of about 300 products. Saltworks Nin is one of three saltworks in Europe that has the European ecological certificate EU Ecolabel. The large selection of salt products it offers is divided into several types. One of the most popular products of Solana Nin is the Flower of Salt.
The focus of our products is on traditional production, hand-picked salt that dries in the wind and sun. In Croatia, we are present in all retail chains (Muller, DM, Spar, Plodine, Kaufland, Konzum, Pivac, Mercator, Tommy, Bakmaz, Studenac, Bure, Metro, Biovega, Tvornica zdrave hrane, Bio&Bio) and in all airports.
In 1423, the Venetians bought saltworks on the Adriatic, including the one in Nin, to gain dominance over salt production. There was no production of salt in the area of Nin for five centuries. The saltworks area continued to be a living biodynamic ecosystem. The Nin Saltworks reopened in 1954 and lives and produces traditionally, in the same way as it did in the old days. It spreads on the area of 55 acres, located in the shallow lagoon of the Nin Bay. There is no heavy industry or extensive agriculture in the wider area and the area of the Nin Saltworks is located among the five Croatian national parks (Plitvice, Paklenica, Kornati, Sjeverni Velebit and Krka) which additionally testifies about the cleanliness and integrity of its natural surroundings.
The current owners of Solana Nin bought it 13 years ago and completely renovated it and brought it to a new successful level. With professional guidance, the salt fields, the "House of Salt" museum and the "Story of Salt" souvenir shop are visited annually by over 120,000 people.
Flower of Salt Nin in a combination with cayenne pepper is a product of superb quality and specific gourmet flavor. It is not used in the cooking process, but at the end as the final touch. This product is labelled with EU Ecolabel Certificate.
