EPA Helpdesk webinar 9: Intellectual Property Rights

September 24 2019

What should be known about the EPA and intellectual property rights (IPRs)?

scheduled on September 24th 2019, 10:00-11:00 AM CET

The EPA offers important market access opportunities for EU products in the realm of IPRs, especially thanks to the recognition of several geographical indications (GIs). But the EPA is not only about GIs, in fact, the text of the Agreement between the EU and Japan is covering many different aspects of intellectual property protection, from patents to copyright, trade secrets, and common measures built on the provisions of the TRIPS Agreement.

This webinar is part of a series of webinars by the EU-Japan EPA Helpdesk. Each webinar will address a different topic or sector and will look at the changes the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement will make and the opportunities it will create. Each webinar will be accompanied by a factsheet and a practical guide. For more information on the EPA Helpdesk please click here.

The webinar was targeted to European SMEs seeking to understand the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, and wishing to leverage IPRs to the fullest extent.

Topics covered:

  • The harmonization of trade secret definition

  • Rules for patent extension for pharma & plant protection
