In Marina di Ragusa, in our farm, only the best varieties of Sicilian olive trees are grown: Tonda Iblea, Nocellara dell'Etna (local ecotype called Verdese), and Biancolilla; the secular trees are flanked by young plants created with innovative agronomic criteria and the use of agro-climatic and environmental monitoring systems. Furthermore, in the neighboring experimental areas, a varietal collection of over 40 varieties of olive trees from all the countries of the Mediterranean basin allows evaluating the response to the local climate of different genotypes, representing precious know-how for future plants. The production of olives destined for transformation into oil derives from a plant grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides with the most advanced agronomic techniques. The olive harvest is done by hand, without the aid of mechanical equipment and their processing takes place on the same day as the harvest. The milling and pressing of the olives are carried out with a continuous cycle system at low temperatures, the decanting takes place naturally in steel containers under nitrogen pressure and the bottling takes place at the Frantoio Mediterraneo located in Donnalucata, a few kilometers from the company that guarantees compliance with HACCP and international standards. It is a production of excellence, available in limited quantities.

As it is an organic vegan product, walnut oil is easily listed in the retail outlets, because the trend of using vegan products is in constant growth. Also, the oil is compact, expensive and is a very suitable product for distribution over long distances.
They have been producing the BIO WALNUT OIL since the end of 2019, according to an old French technology from 1803 - it is handmade by single cold pressing of RAW walnuts in a unique wooden OAK PRESS. The technology for the oil is unique and contributes to 100% preservation of the useful Omega fatty acids and Vitamins in the oil, because it does not heat up (max 21оC) and does not come into contact with metal. This is very important, because in conventional presses, the final product is very oxidized and most of the useful substances are destroyed by the metal and the high temperature. Thanks to the technology used, their oil has an acidity level less than 0.1% and very balanced natural taste. For comparison, you may know that the some of the most expensive premium cold-pressed oils have 0.2%.
From the residual (pressed walnuts) we make Bio Walnut Flour (which is practically vegan walnut protein (approx. 40% content) and it is also made by hand in a stone mill.

The other interesting thing is that walnut oil turns out to be a very useful cosmetic product precisely because of Omega 3,6,9 and Vitamin E, and could be used for face, body and hair. It is precisely because of this fact that it is possible to seek a partnership with established brands for premium organic cosmetics, which could be interested to implement our raw material in their production. The flour can be used in various recipes for peeling and scrub for face and body. Contains a lot of Vitamin E, Magnesium and Zinc.

Azienda Agricola La Quercia Scarlatta

Strakka Ltd
The company was established in Strakka Estate, which appears on Abraham Ortelius’s map of 1573, having a story of more than 60 years in olive oil production. The estate was always known for its olive oil production. Currently, Strakka owns an area of 50 hectares with 9000 olive trees, including Koroneiki, Kalamon and Cyprus olive varieties growing organically since 1998. Since then, soil is not cultivated remaining undisturbed in order to allow the enhancement of micro-organisms in the soil as well as the tree roots. The trees are carefully managed to establish maximum growth and healthy, productive olive trees. Aim of the company is the production of high-quality organic olive oil with increased polyphenol content. To achieve this, milling and bottling facilities have been developed onsite. The fruits are harvested in optimum maturity, they are harvested and milled using cold pressing prosses within a few hours in order to restrict exposure of olive oil on different degrading factors. Through the years, the company’s olive oils have been awarded for their quality and their high polyphenolic content.
