Italy returned to Tokyo Game Show for the third consecutive year, with its largest presence to date.
From 17 to 21 September 2026, eleven Italian studios and publishers exhibited at Makuhari Messe in a 144-square-metre national pavilion organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) together with IIDEA, the Italian Interactive Digital Entertainment Association.
The pavilion gave the participating companies — most of them small and medium-sized independent developers — a shared platform to present their titles to Japanese publishers, platform holders, distributors and international press. The first two days were reserved for business visitors, while the remaining three opened the halls to the general public.
Alongside the exhibition, the ITA Tokyo Office hosted a networking reception in Shibuya on 18 September, bringing the Italian delegation together with Japanese industry representatives, associations, and media. Each exhibiting company introduced its work before the floor opened to informal exchange.
A digital catalogue published for the occasion collects the profiles of the eleven exhibitors and remains available online.
Japan is among the most sought-after markets for European developers. Initiatives of this kind are intended to shorten that distance, giving smaller European studios direct access to counterparts that would otherwise remain out of reach.
