LEAN CAFÉ

June 10 2022

Lean Café - sharing lean thinking in a friendly atmosphere

From 2020 to 2022, with the suspension of the physical Lean in Europe visits during the COVID pandemic, the EU-Japan Centre organised 12 "Lean Café" webinars - providing a platform for lean enthusiasts to discuss and share good practice. Most of the sessions were recorded. 536 people attended the 12 Lean Café sessions.

Access recordings and presentations from previous sessions in the Lean Café Archive.

The last Lean Café session took place on 10/06/2022 and addressed supply chain issues and ensuring agile responses in a volatile environment, with TRUMPF Lasertechnik GmbH as the featured company. You can watch the session again here.

The 12 Lean Café sessions featured TRUMPF Lasertechnik GmbH; Raiffeisen-Landesbank (RLB) Steiermark; Mondelēz International; CNH Industrial; SpoluWorks and Effectivity; Lyreco UK & Ireland; the Irish National Treasury Management Agency; Opex Performance Solutions Ltd; Tetra Pak; Shinka Managament; Jaguar Land Rover Limited and the Toyota Lean Management Centre.

How the Lean Café worked

  • Each Café sitting began with a presentation on a specific topic and ended with a discussion where participants could give feedback, ask questions or share their experiences.
  • The sessions were moderated by Prof. Richard Keegan (Adjunct Professor of Lean Operational Excellence, Trinity Business School) - the EU-Japan Centre's Lean Advisor.
  • The Lean Café was organised on an ad hoc basis. Once it became possible to resume the physical Lean in Europe visits, the Lean Café 'closed'.
