Japanese-affiliated companies face high costs and geopolitical risks but expect easing of sustainability related regulations. Released on March 2026, the purpose of JETRO’s annual survey is to identify actual conditions in the activities of Japanese-affiliated businesses operating overseas and to provide the results to a wide range of Japanese companies and policymakers.

In February 2025, JETRO released its annual survey on Japanese-affiliated companies based in Europe.

JETRO conducted a survey on foreign-affiliated companies based in Japan and released its report in March.

JETRO’s "Subsidy for Foreign Direct Investment Stimulation Project" is currently accepting applications. Make sure to apply by April 21 for those interested!

During the 32nd IJBG Assembly held in Venice on 1 December 2022, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) agreed to cooperate, mutually supporting the two countries’ start-up companies to develop their businesses respectively in Japan and in Italy.

JETRO conducted a survey of foreign-affiliated companies based in Japan from September to October 2021. This survey was conducted by JETRO to assess the current status of foreign-affiliated companies in Japan, the Japanese business environment, and the state of collaboration/cooperation with Japanese companies and other entities.
