In July 2026, Japan became officially associated to Horizon Europe, marking a new chapter in EU-Japan cooperation in research and innovation. Japan’s association to Horizon Europe represents a major opportunity for Japanese research institutions and industry to engage more deeply in Europe’s research and innovation ecosystem across a wide range of fields, while working together to address shared challenges and strengthen competitiveness.
Japan’s association equally offers European partners an opportunity to draw on Japan’s world-class research capabilities, technological expertise and strong industrial base to develop new joint research and innovation initiatives. Expectations are already growing across Europe and its partner countries for the creation of new partnerships and closer collaboration with Japan.
In this event, we provide stakeholders in and around Brussels (and beyond) with an opportunity to get an insight into Japan’s research and innovation ecosystem, remarkable results and enabling infrastructures. By inviting various entities from Europe and Japan, the event will offer a platform for exchanging information and building new connections that can lead to future research and innovation collaboration.
