TMG publishes tender contract notices for Tokyo 2020 Olympics aquatics, volleyball and rowing venues

On October 16, Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) published the contract notices for construction tenders for the Olympic venues for swimming, volleyball and rowing/kayaking venues.

Aquatics Centre

The Olympic swimming events are scheduled to be held at the Olympic Aquatics Centre in Koto-ward.  The total surface of the complex is an estimated 77,000 m2, of which 46,600 m2 will become a permanent facility.  The estimated price for the complex has been set at ¥53 billion (€391 million).  Applications for participating in the tender have to be in before November 26, 2015. Final selection of the winning tender is set at January 13, 2016. Hearings regarding the technical proposals are expected to be held on December 9 and 10, 2015.

Ariake Arena

Currently called Ariake Arena, this facility, also in Koto-ward,  is scheduled to host the Olympic volleyball competition.  The estimated scale of the complex is 45,600 m2. The estimated price for this facility has been set at approximately ¥36 billion (€266 million).  The deadlines are the same as for the Aquatics Centre. Hearings regarding the technical proposals are expected to be held on December 9 and 10, 2015.

Sea Forest Waterway

The Sea Forest Waterway will host the rowing and kayaking events.  This phase of construction includes design and construction of port structures, water gate, and  water level control (storage/drainage) facilities.  Estimated price set by TMG is ¥25 billion  (€183 million), Applications for participation have to be in before November 27, 2015.

Hearings regarding the technical proposals are expected to be held on December 9 and 10, 2015.
