Government to assess current public prices of public works and goods procurement
The Japanese government will review whether public prices for procurement of public works and goods are reflecting prices trends. Many of the unit prices and standard amounts currently used have remained unchanged since Japan's deflationary period. As the government has been encouraging the private sector to pass on costs, it is also working to raise the prices for public sector procurement (kankōju) to appropriate levels, further supporting wage increases.
