Internship at the EU-Japan Centre

Are you a student interested by the Japanese industrial sector and the economic relations between the EU and Japan? Do you wish to gain professional experience in an international environment and possibly jumpstart your European career?

Throughout the year, the Brussels office of the EU-Japan Centre is hosting students wishing to conduct an internship in the framework of their university program.

  • You have to conduct a compulsory internship through your EU-based university, or it provides opportunities to conduct a voluntary internship

Whether you are a bachelor or master student, you may have to conduct a compulsory internship as part of your university program (ECTS-rewarded internship), or you might have the chance to undertake a voluntary internship with an university contract. Conditions for such internships depend on the country and institution you come from, so please consult with your faculty for further details. Please note that such compulsory internship cannot exceed a period of 4 months.

  • You can benefit from the Erasmus+ program

As a student and one year following your graduation, you may apply for Erasmus+ funding while still being enrolled in your higher education institution. Please consult the relevant website and contact your university’s secretariat for more information on eligibility and application procedures.

Tasks:

Within the framework of the internship, the intern will primarily be focusing on research (both sectoral and cultural) as a way to update our information website available to EU SMEs: https://www.eubusinessinjapan.eu/.

Besides that, other tasks might be requested upon needs based on the intern's skills and interests.

Requirements:

An advanced English level (at least C1) and an intermediate Japanese level (at least N3) are required. The intern should also have an interest in Japanese culture, the industrial sector, and EU-Japan relations.

Note: this internship is unpaid. As of April 1st, a stipend covering expenses (10 euros per day of internship) will be provided.

If you reside in Brussels, you might be welcomed at our office (if COVID rules allow).

If you come from elsewhere in Belgium or from abroad, it is also possible to be part of our team on a remote-working basis.

The EU-Japan Centre does not provide support to obtain visa.

Interested? Please send your CV and motivation letter to Pauline Laloux at p.laloux(at)eu-japan.eu. Candidacies are taken on a rolling basis.
