Key to success for EU businesses when filing a design application in Japan

30 September 10:00 CEST / 17:00 JST

The trade relations between the European Union (EU) and Japan account for about one quarter of global GDP. Designs play an increasingly important role in innovation and brand building and enterprises often use them to expand their jurisdiction, protecting their designs across EU borders.

This webinar will cover the following topics:

  1.  The different types of designs that can be registered with the Japan Patent Office and the protection they offer.
  2. The main differences between the Japanese and EU systems.
  3. Tips on overcoming the most frequent objections (grounds for refusal) to design applications.
  4. Representation requirements in both Japan and the EU.

This webinar is designed for EU companies seeking to protect their designs in the Japanese market and secure a competitive advantage. It is suitable for those with a good knowledge of registered European Union designs.

Organized by EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office, this webinar is developed in partnership with the Japan Patent Office.
