On December 27, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) announced the winning bidder for a tender "Construction Works for the Village Plaza of the Athletes' Village". The contract was won by a joint-venture consisting of Kumagai Gumi Co., Ltd., one of Japan's largest general contractors and Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd.
