The Lean in Europe visit #24 was to Applus+ IDIADA Santa Oliva close to Barcelona.
This visit was open both to people working on lean implementation and to alumni of the EU-Japan Centre's Vulcanus in Japan activity.

This visit focused on the challenges of introducing Lean thinking and Lean tools at Idiada two years after their first deployment. It addressed the challenges of understanding the current situation and how to develop people and processes.

Applus+ IDIADA is an engineering company providing engineering services such as design, engineering and validation capabilities for vehicle development projects. Idiada also offers test facilities, proving grounds and homologation services to the automotive industry. Idiada is involved in carrying out many innovative projects that are likely to have an impact on the future of mobility and transport. Idiada's success story is based on an international team of over 1,700 engineers and technicians, on customer orientation and a constant investment in innovation.

Day 1 - Late afternoon group discussion and group evening dinner in Barcelona

Make your own way from Barcelona Airport (BCN) to the group hotel for a Lean discussion / activity led by Prof. Richard Keegan (Adjunct Associate Professor of Operational Management, Trinity Business School, Dublin) and informal networking dinner.

Day 2 - Visit to Applus+ Idiada - Santa Oliva and transfer to Barcelona Airport BCN

The visit will include lectures, shop-floor visits, coaching and detailed explanations by staff of Applus+ IDIADA Santa Oliva.
