Green Materials: Key for Scope 3 Emission reduction

Tuesday 18 November 2025 16:30-18:00 in Tokyo (8:30-10:00 Brussels)
(Japanese language only, free event, Zoom Webinar)

Co-hosted by:U.S.-Japan Council (USJC) / EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation (EUJC)

In corporate efforts toward decarbonization, progress in addressing Scope 3 emissions—those generated across the entire supply chain—appears to be particularly challenging. Among these, materials, which account for a significant portion of such emissions, are expected to benefit from the wider adoption of so-called green materials.

Achieving this, however, requires concerted efforts from both the supply side (upstream) and the demand side (downstream). In the case of metals, which make up a large share of industrial materials, public and private initiatives are already underway to promote the use of “green steel”. Similar efforts are also needed for non-ferrous metals.

In this seminar, representatives from both the public and private sectors will discuss the challenges and future directions for promoting green materials, drawing on perspectives from various stakeholders throughout the supply chain—from upstream suppliers to downstream users.
