Lean in Europe - visit 23 - LEGO and Skoda

The 23rd Lean in Europe visit was a double visit to Škoda's Lean Centre and to LEGO’s packing facility near Prague in the Czech Republic.

It took place on Tuesday, 16 & Wednesday 17 July 2019 and included an evening discussion, moderated by Prof. Richard Keegan, around how the participants' companies capture, process and use data to capture value (see thumbnail picture at the bottom of this page).

The Škoda part of the visit focused on:

  • strategic development;
  • team training; and
  • using lean and industry 4.0 tools.

The LEGO part of the visit focused on:

  • implementation of Team Coordinators on shop floor;
  • SMED, improvement of change over on packing lines;
  • a LEAN assessment tool;
  • 3D printing of spare parts; and a
  • gemba tour
