Japan and the EU agreed on the “EU-Japan Digital Partnership” at the 2022 Summit, and have since been strengthening cooperation to advance the contribution of digital technologies to society and the economy. In this seminar, we will deepen dialogue between the public and private sectors from Japan and the EU on the future direction the Partnership should pursue toward a prosperous and sustainable future.

This webinar will delve into the key provisions of the Net-Zero Industrial Act (NZIA) and Clean Industrial Deal, highlighting their impact on industries and the businesses and investment opportunities they generate for Japanese companies.

We welcome Mr. Shozo Maeda, Secretary General of the Japan Business Council in Europe (JBCE), an organization highly regarded in Europe for providing fair and accurate information, as our keynote speaker. He will provide insights into EU policies and regulations, covering past developments as well as the latest trends.

On 13 November, the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, together with the Delegation of the EU to Japan and the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ), held a seminar on “EU CBAM and its implication for Japanese companies” in a hybrid format.

In this webinar, panelists involved in GAIA-X, CATENA-X, Japanese date strategy and the Ouranos Ecosystem will provide insights about the overview and challenges, and will discuss on crucial topics such as the involvement of all players in the supply chain (especially SMEs) in this data linkage mechanism, ensuring data reliability, achieving globally interoperability, delineating optimal roles between the public and private sectors, and exploring possible industrial cooperation between Japan and the EU and the ideal framework for global data collaboration.

The webinar will present the latest GX policies and specific progress, as well as comment on Japan's GX policy from a European perspective, exploring the Japan-EU Green Alliance. 

In this webinar, the European Commission will explain the outline of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) while Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will discuss initiatives to build sustainable supply chains.

In this seminar, the Director-General of DG TAXUD of the European Commission, will talk about the current status, future measures and responses, and discuss together with related parties of Japan.

This event will look at recent developments to implement the regulation and will give participants an opportunity to put questions to the Commission experts.
