Onshore and Offshore Wind Market in Japan
Japan is increasingly turning to wind energy, both onshore and offshore, as part of its broader efforts to diversify its energy mix, enhance energy security, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Given its long coastline and strong wind resources, floating offshore wind is emerging as a key pillar of Japan’s renewable energy strategy. The Japanese government has set an offshore wind power target (on a project formation basis) of 10 GW by 2030 and 30-45 GW by 2040. The purpose of this report is to evaluate the status of the onshore and offshore wind market in Japan.
