Host company's costs for the complete training period
Your company will remunerate the Vulcanus trainee DIRECTLY, in accordance with the labour laws of your country.
Please consider that the participation in 'Vulcanus in Europe' is not curricular for your trainee (in other words, it is not part of their university studies). This may be relevant, in terms of applicable permits / remuneration / taxation.
Normally, in the majority of the countries, the amount of the remuneration complies with the minimum wage.
If the applicable remuneration is lower than the minimal remuneration permitted by Vulcanus, then the latter (*) prevails.
(*) Net/month of traineeship: 1000 €. Exceptions: France 1100 €, Italy 700 € + meals & accommodation
Other costs for the company:
The Company will also cover the following costs:
- Taxes & costs linked with salaries, visas, work permits, if any. (Including the cost for hiring an external consultant/law firm to fulfil the inherent administrative procedures).
- Further costs arising from the applicable law in your Member State, if any. (Attention: in Italy: companies are requested to also provide accommodation and meals)

Please find some information on applicable remuneration in some EU countries, as of May 2026. Please note that the applicable law in these EU countries may change by the time of the next Vulcanus placement.
- Germany: Companies pay to the student the monthly national minimum wage (average gross salaries in 2026: from € 2000 to € 2420, pro-rata, depending on the region, the type of company and the background of the student)
- Ireland: Companies pay to the student the monthly national minimum wage (example of gross salary in 2026: € 2150, pro-rata. Gross salaries may vary, depending on the type of company and the background of the student)
- France: Companies pay to the student at least € 1100 per month
- Italy: Companies are requested to provide a direct monthly payment to the student + accommodation + meals. Such costs for the company are decided at regional level. (Whenever applicable, the minimum monthly remuneration permitted by Vulcanus in this case is of 700 € + meals & accommodation).
- Italy: Administrative procedures for the approval of the traineeship at regional level shall be processed by an intermediate body. Depending on the Regions, intermediate bodies can be either public or private. It is not always possible to receive the support of public bodies. We estimate that the fee charged by private bodies recognized by the your Region could be around 1500 € - 2000 € for this service.
- Spain: Procedures to apply for the residence permit should be fulfilled by a consultant. The average cost for this service is between 2000 € and 2500 €.
Grant received by the student
On top of the above mentioned remuneration, the students will receive another grant of approx. 5,000 EUR (in Japanese Yen) from the EU-Japan Centre before they arrive in Europe, to cover their travel expenses, living expenses during the language course, etc.
