ELIGIBILITY
All companies in the industrial or service sector within the EU are eligible.
The traineeship should be R&D oriented.
Through fulfilling the assigned tasks, the trainee should be given the chance to optimize and implement the specific knowledge they acquired at university.
Integration: Companies must be ready to integrate the trainee(s) into their team. (In fact, a major reason for Japanese students to apply is to gain an understanding of European approaches to team-working, decision-making and intercultural exchanges, which can be achieved through working within a team).
Commuting: Vulcanus trianees cannot drive in Europe and they must commute to the company by public transport, bicycle or on-foot. As a consequence, the host company needs to be located in an area reachable by public transport or by any other means of transport provided by the company.
Important notice
'Vulcanus in Europe' is, in principle, open to all EU27 member states.
However, visa and work permit rules depend on national legislation and may evolve.
The EU-Japan Centre will reconfirm the compatibility of Vulcanus in Europe in your country, through liaising with your national authority in September/October.
One of the selection criteria will be the compatibility of Vulcanus with the rules in force at the time of the selection.
