How can you overcome cultural differences and build trusting partnerships? – Experiences from MIRAI Japanese-Swedish university collaboration

The MIRAI collaboration started as a university collaboration between Sweden and Japan in 2015 and has since then grown both in terms of universities involved and actors outside of academia engaged in the collaboration. The current phase of the partnership, MIRAI 2.0, involves 19 universities in Japan and Sweden committed to building new collaborations within research, education and innovation. The partnership is recognized on high political level in both countries and the support from the embassies as well as other stakeholders has been important from the start.

In this webinar we will discuss lessons learned from our six years of collaboration, how the partnership has developed over time and the key factors for success. Although this is an academic project the experiences can be applied to many sectors. We will discuss cultural differences (and similarities) and how we’ve managed to build trust in our partnership.

The webinar targets company representatives and other actors interested in developing long-lasting relations with Japanese partners.
