Green Transportation

 Latest update: May 2025

The Japanese transportation sector accounts for nearly 18% of the total emission amount of Japan’s economy. In 2020, the total amount of CO2 released in Japan was 1.04 billion tons, and 185 million of them came from the automotive industry. Reducing the carbon footprint of this sector has led to the rise of “green transportation” with both the government and the industry striving to implement new policies while increasing the degree of technological innovation.
