Therefore, to the extent that the international treaties are relevant, general schemes for protection and prosecution of intellectual property rights under the intellectual property laws of Japan are similar to those of other signatory countries.
However, application and execution of intellectual property rights in Japan shall be compliant with the laws of Japan. Therefore it is recommended to check the essential features of the Japanese Intellectual Property System and to consult specialists (lawyers/patent attorneys) in the early stage, after clarifying the basic policy of management.
